THE FRIDAY NOTE (9TH MAY 2025)
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
It’s great to be back to school after our Easter break. I hope that everyone’s been enjoying the sunshine over the past while and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it holds up! This morning, Ms Lena and some of our pupils led a brilliant assembly about Ramadan and Eid - it was a fantastic opportunity for all our pupils to learn more about this important occasion and other cultures!
I hope you find the following information useful in navigating the next week and beyond into Term 3.
GO ECO-COUNCIL!
A huge well done to Mr Phillips and our Eco-Council who have been awarded an Eco-School's Green Flag for all their hard work this year. We are so proud of this fantastic achievement. We will formally receive the award at a special ceremony in Craigavon Civic Centre on Tuesday 3rd June!
SPORTS DAY
We plan (weather permitting) to hold our annual Sports Day on Monday 2nd June. Please keep this date free- it would be great to see lots of parents supporting their children at this event.
NI EDUCATION AWARDS 2025
We’re over the moon to have been selected as finalists for the ‘Best Primary School in Co. Armagh’ award at the Northern Ireland Education Awards. The awards ceremony is taking place on Saturday 7th June.
You can vote for our school when the voting opens later this month- we would really appreciate everyone’s support! Keep your eyes peeled for more information on this.
TALKING PANTS: ARMAGH CITY LIBRARY
Join this family-fun event, at Armagh City Library on Tuesday 13th May (3.30-5.30pm). The NSPCC will be delivering a Storytime and activities to raise awareness about their Talk Pants Campaign.
BOOK FAIR
The Book Fair will be in school from 15th to the 22nd May. Details on Book Fair opening times and how you can make a purchase will follow at the beginning of next week.
SACRAMENTS: FIRST HOLY COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION
Some of our P4 children will be making their First Holy Communion on Saturday 31st May. The mass will be followed by an afternoon tea party at school (from 1-2pm) and we would love to invite all the P4 children who are making their sacrament (and their families) to join us to celebrate.
Some of our P7 children will make their Confirmation on Saturday 7th June in St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Our school choir will be singing at both of these services- we would appreciate a full turn out from everyone in the choir in order to truly showcase our school.
END OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS
Please be advised of the end of term arrangements for our children:
IRISH DANCING
There is no Irish Dancing afterschool today. Irish Dancing (afterschool activity) will begin next week 16th May 2025 for a period of 6 weeks.
UPDATE ON NIE WORKS
I’d like to thank everyone for their patience with the roadworks that are currently taking place on Killuney Park Road. The works will continue next week as the workmen move down the road and begin work in the surrounding areas.
As always, if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your child’s class teacher or myself via Class Dojo. I am also out at the front of the school each morning and as much as possible each afternoon if you have any issues or concerns. If you have a safeguarding concern, Mrs O’Braonain (our Designated Teacher for Child Protection) can be contacted by email at aobraonain211@c2kni.net.
Have a great weekend,
Mr A Scott-Mulholland (Principal)?
