THE FRIDAY NOTE (6TH JUNE 2025)
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the members of our school choir who joined the P4 children making their First Holy Communion last Saturday. As always, the children sang beautifully! Well done to our P4 children (who all looked amazing) and thank you to Mrs Tohill and Mrs Harrison especially for their work in preparing the children for this special day.
We also had a wonderful day on Monday 2nd June for our annual Sports Day - thankfully the weather held up for us and it was lovely to see the children participating so actively in the different races!
I hope you all find the following information useful as we move closer to the end of the term.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
CONFIRMATION
Some of our P7 children will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation tomorrow (2pm at St. Patrick’s RC Cathedral). We would like to wish them all the best on their special day! Parents of children to be confirmed should be aware that several schools are participating in the ceremony tomorrow and due to perceived traffic congestion, it is advised to arrive early to be seated by 1:30pm. Children who have been confirmed are invited to wear their confirmation clothes to school on Monday and may bring in some treats to celebrate this special occasion with their classmates.
We are honoured that our school choir has been asked to perform during this ceremony where pupils from St. Patrick’s Primary School and St. Malachy’s Primary School will also be getting confirmed. To best showcase our school to the community, we ask for a full attendance from our school choir tomorrow afternoon. The choir members must be at the Cathedral from 1.15pm sharp (in full school uniform- please ensure any hair accessories are in school colours).
As a treat for giving up two Saturday afternoons to represent our school, our school choir members will have a pizza party next Friday in school. Thank you to all the choir children and to you, the parents/ guardians for supporting our choir during these important ceremonies!
SEAG REGISTRATION
Please note that registration for the SEAG Entrance Assessment for pupils transferring to post-primary school in September 2026 is now open and will close on Friday 19th September 2025: https://seagni.co.uk/register
UNIFORM SWAP SHOP
Thank you to those who have already donated items of uniform, coats and wellies for our Parents’ Council’s uniform recycle initiative. Please keep these coming.
Watch this space for information on when the Swap Shop begins!
ECO FLAG SUCCESS!
On Tuesday, I accompanied Mr Phillips and three representatives from our Eco-Council to Craigavon Civic Centre for the Eco-Schools Awards. Our Eco-Council were awarded the Eco- Flag and this is a testament to all of their hard work this year. Well done to everyone – we are incredibly proud of you!
RSE POLICY
It is a statutory requirement that all schools in Northern Ireland have a RSE Policy. An RSE policy outlines how a school teaches pupils about relationships, personal development, respect for others and understanding emotions. It ensures that learning is age-appropriate, inclusive and supports pupils in developing healthy, respectful relationships.
The draft of our RSE Policy is now available for consultation on the school website. We welcome your feedback and suggestions.
If you would like to share your thoughts, please email them to ascottmulholland193@c2kni.net by Friday 13th June. Thank you!
AFTERSCHOOL CLUBS
Please note, next Wednesday (11th June) is the last day for our teacher led afterschool clubs (Lego, art, badminton).
Clubs led by our external providers will finish the following week (week commencing 16th June).
CLASS ASSEMBLY
Mr Phillips’ P3 class will be leading our assembly next Friday (13th June) to celebrate the important male figures in our children's lives. Parents are invited to this assembly. Please be seated in the hall by 9.30am. Thank you.
