The Friday Note (13.06.25)

THE FRIDAY NOTE (13TH JUNE 2025)

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Mr Phillips’ P3 class assembly this morning. The children put on a lovely performance to celebrate Father’s Day and we hope all the dads, grandads and father figures have a great day on Sunday!

Please take a moment to read the following updates as we approach the end of another busy and exciting school year!

PARENTS’ COUNCIL UPDATE

Thank you for the fantastic support with donations to our Parents’ Council Uniform Recycle! If you have any spare items of uniform, coats or wellies (in good condition), please keep them coming in. The last day for children to wear school uniform will be Friday 20th June so please drop in any additional pieces of uniform after this date if you are able to. The Uniform Recycle will be open from Tuesday 24th June!

In addition, the Parents’ Council is inviting all parents to complete a short survey to help guide their work going forward. Your views are important- please take a few minutes to have your say!

REMINDER: END OF YEAR REPORTS

End of Year Reports will be sent home on Friday 20th June. Please check your child’s schoolbag next week. Along with the end of year report you will also receive a stationery list for next year, and your child’s class details for 2025/26. If you have any questions about the reports, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your child’s class teacher.

SEAG REGISTRATION

Please note that registration for the SEAG Entrance Assessment for pupils transferring to post-primary school in September 2026 is now open and will close on Friday 19th September 2025: https://seagni.co.uk/register

P7 LEAVERS’ ASSEMBLY- MONDAY 23rd JUNE

We look forward to celebrating our wonderful P7 pupils on Monday 23rd June during our Leavers’ Assembly. We would invite you, together with our pupils and staff, to form a guard of honour at 10am as they leave their P7 classroom and walk along the front of the school, past their old classrooms, to Nursery before going to the hall for their final assembly and annual awards.

P7s should wear their full school uniform (or leavers’ hoodies) on the day of the assembly.

School will finish on this day for the rest of the pupils- apart from P7 siblings- as follows:

11am: P5 and P6 children and their younger siblings (the school bus will also leave at this time)

11.10am: P3 and P4 children and their younger siblings

11.20am: Nursery, P1 and P2 children

At 11am, the P7 parents are invited to stay to watch this year’s ‘P7’s Got Talent’ followed by a light lunch and then…the annual water fight - a much-loved tradition! The celebrations should be finished by 1pm. Please make sure your child brings a change of clothes, a towel and lots of ammo and water balloons on the day!

NURSERY GRADUATION

Nursery graduation is taking place in the main school hall on Tuesday 24th June at 9:45am and this will be our Nursery pupils last day in school.  The children and staff will walk from the Nursery Unit to the Main Hall in procession and will be supported by school pupils, staff and parents.  The ceremony will last approximately 20mins after which, parents/ guardians will be invited to share some light refreshments until 11am. Children will be free to go home with their parents at 11am.

AFTERSCHOOL CLUBS

Please note, teacher-led afterschool clubs (Lego, art and badminton) have now finished for this academic year. Next week is the last week for all other clubs (including Transfer Club) with the exception of hockey that will continue for one more week.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS AND UNIFORM GRANTS

Applications for Free School Meals and Uniform Grants for the 2025/26 school year are now open on the Education Authority (EA) website. It is the responsibility of parents to apply for Free School Meals every school year and applications cannot be backdated. We strongly encourage all eligible families to apply as soon as possible to avoid missing out. Visit www.eani.org.uk to apply.

BOOKS

Next year, we intend to reintroduce library time in Foundation stage where children can borrow and return books each week.  Our stock of books is currently low so we would kindly ask for donations of picture story books if anyone is clearing out either before or during the summer. Thanks
