The Friday Note (20.06.25)

THE FRIDAY NOTE (20TH JUNE 2025)

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

I’m sure everyone is glad to see the sun again! Long may it continue!

This afternoon, children will receive their Annual Reports. We trust you find the information useful. A key component of this is attendance, which plays a vital role in ensuring consistent learning and social development. We encourage all families to aim for 100% attendance, understanding that occasional absences due to illness are sometimes unavoidable. However, we ask parents to pay close attention to their child’s attendance record:

Regular attendance helps children build routines, maintain friendships and, most importantly, achieve their full potential. Please take a moment to review your child’s attendance and reach out if you have any concerns or need support.

In addition to your child’s report you fill also find details of your child’s class and teacher for the next academic year 2025/26. The children will get an opportunity to spend time with their new class and teacher on Wednesday of next week.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

FREE SCHOOL MEALS AND UNIFORM GRANTS

Applications for Free School Meals and Uniform Grants for the 2025/26 school year are now open on the Education Authority (EA) website. It is the responsibility of parents to apply for Free School Meals every school year and applications cannot be backdated. We strongly encourage all eligible families to apply as soon as possible to avoid missing out. Visit www.eani.org.uk to apply.

P7 LEAVERS’ ASSEMBLY- MONDAY 23rd JUNE

We look forward to celebrating our wonderful P7 pupils on Monday 23rd June during our Leavers’ Assembly. We would invite you, together with our pupils and staff, to form a guard of honour at 10am as they leave their P7 classroom and walk along the front of the school, past their old classrooms, to Nursery before going to the hall for their final assembly and annual awards.

P7s should wear their full school uniform (leavers’ hoodies) on the day of the assembly.

School will finish on this day for the rest of the pupils- apart from P7 siblings- as follows:

11am: P5 and P6 children and their younger siblings (the school bus will also leave at this time)

11.10am: P3 and P4 children and their younger siblings

11.20am: Nursery, P1 and P2 children

At 11am, the P7 parents are invited to stay to watch this year’s ‘P7’s Got Talent’ followed by a light lunch and then…the annual water fight - a much-loved tradition! The celebrations should be finished by 1pm. Please make sure your child brings a change of clothes, a towel and lots of ammo and water balloons on the day!

Children who are attending Fun4U on Monday will be supervised in school until 12 noon (when the Fun4U staff will take over).

NURSERY GRADUATION

Nursery graduation is taking place in the main school hall on Tuesday 24th June at 9:45am and this will be our Nursery pupils last day in school.  The children and staff will walk from the Nursery Unit to the Main Hall in procession and will be supported by school pupils, staff and parents.  The ceremony will last approximately 20mins after which, parents/ guardians are be invited to share some light refreshments until 11am. Children will be free to go home with their parents at 11am.

BOOKS

Next year, we intend to reintroduce library time in Foundation stage where children can borrow and return books each week.  Our stock of books is currently low so we would kindly ask for donations of picture story books if anyone is clearing out either before or during the summer. Thanks!

CORPUS CHRISTI

The final Mass in the ‘Do This in Memory’ programme for children who made their First Holy Communion this year is at 5.30pm on Corpus Christi, Sunday 22nd June, after the procession. The children are invited to wear their First Communion outfits and join the Corpus Christi procession which starts from St. Malachy’s Church at 4.15pm.

CHANGEOVER MORNING

On Wednesday morning pupils will spend time with their new class. Children should proceed to their current class as usual on Wednesday morning.

UNIFORM RECYCLE

Children do not need to wear uniform to school next week- we would ask that P7 children attending Leavers’ Assembly and Nursery children graduating on Tuesday do wear their uniform for these important events.

Our uniform recycle is open from Tuesday 24th June to Friday 27th June (8.30-9am & 2.00-3.30pm). Please continue to donate your clean, gently used school uniforms, welly boots and coats to exchange for different sizes. Kindness donations are encouraged to support school fundraising.
