THE FRIDAY NOTE (19TH SEPTEMBER 2025)
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope everyone has had a great week! It has been another busy and exciting one here at Saints and Scholars, and I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support in all that we do.
Please take a look below at some important updates and reminders for the week ahead.
HALLOWEEN COSTUME RECYCLE AND DISCO
Our Parents’ Council are getting ready for Halloween and we need your help! We are asking families to please donate any costumes that are no longer needed so that they can be enjoyed again by another child. This is a fantastic way to save money, recycle, and support one another in our school community.
Donations can be left in the brown box outside the staffroom window anytime from now until Wednesday 1st October. The Recycle Shop will be open on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd October. All sizes are welcome, from nursery to adults. The more costumes we collect, the better choice there will be for everyone, so please have a look at home and send in what you can.
Our annual Halloween Disco is also taking place on Thursday 23rd October- this is always a fantastic event! Nursery to P3 children will have their disco from 6.30-7.15pm with the rest of the school from 7.30-8.30pm. Friends are also welcome!
SETTLING IN
Our Nursery children have now completed their settling-in period and are staying for their full day. Collection is from 1.15pm and children must be collected by 1.30pm sharp. Nursery children may also stay until 3pm at Afternoon Club. Please let Mrs Kennedy know which days your child will be attending. The cost for Afternoon Club is currently £3 per session.
Our P1 children will continue to be dismissed at 1pm next week, with their first full day (to 2pm) on Monday 29th September. We’re so encouraged to see the children settling in so well!
HEAD LICE REMINDER
Please check your child’s hair regularly for head lice. If found, please treat promptly and let your child’s class teacher know. All information will be kept in the strictest confidence. Working together helps us to minimise disruption for everyone.
PARKING AND DROP-OFF SAFETY
A gentle reminder that no cars should ever park in the turning circle. This area is strictly for drop-off only to ensure traffic can flow and that the school bus can access safely. We know mornings can feel rushed, but please continue to be kind and patient with one another. Your cooperation helps keep everyone safe.
HOMEWORK CLUB AND WRAPAROUND CARE
We are delighted to see so many families making use of our Homework Club- thank you for your support.
Our wraparound care currently includes:
We’re glad these services are proving useful for families.
PARENTS’ COUNCIL
Alongside the Halloween events, our Parents’ Council are also working with Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council to plan an exciting cultural diversity event. Watch this space for more information coming soon.
REPORTING ABSENCES
Please remember to report all absences on the ‘Book an Absence’ link via our school website. This must be done on the first day of absence and helps us keep accurate attendance records. You can click the yellow box below to take you directly to the form:
PE T-SHIRTS
We have distributed most PE t-shirts now but are waiting on an order coming in within the next week or two so if you haven’t received one yet, it will be arriving soon.
UNIFORM LABELLING
We have several jumpers/ cardigans in lost property – can we please request you take a minute to label uniform items/ coats so we can easily return them to the children.
CASH FOR CANS AND PLASTIC BOTTLES
Our eco-council are taking part in the Cash for Cans initiative organised by Cordelia’s, to raise money for our school. There is a 180L bin at the staff room window, please bring any cans or plastic bottles (excludes glass, tetra-pak and milk cartons) and drop them in to our bin to help our Eco-Council raise some funds.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, you’re always welcome to get in touch with your child’s class teacher or me at any time via Class Dojo. I’m out at the front of the school each morning and, as often as possible, in the afternoons. Alternatively, my door is always open if you need to catch me during the school day. If you have a safeguarding concern, Mrs. O’Braonain, our Designated Teacher for Child Protection, can be contacted directly at aobraonain211@c2kni.net.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
Mr. A. Scott-Mulholland (Principal)
