The Friday Note (03.10.25)

THE FRIDAY NOTE (3RD OCTOBER 2025)

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

I hope everyone has had a great week. October is off to a busy start and we’ve lots happening in school over the coming days. Please see below for this week’s updates and reminders.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS: MONDAY 6TH OCTOBER

School photographs will be taken this Monday. If you would like your child’s photo taken, you must register in advance. Grainne shared full details on the School Story yesterday afternoon.
Please visit orders.coolforschoolphotography.com and enter SAINTS25 as the school code. You’ll then select your child’s class and complete the form.

If you’d like a sibling photo to be taken, you can request this during registration. For family photos including younger children not yet in school (or older siblings), please let Grainne know — these will be taken between 8.30 and 9.00am on Monday morning.

PARENT INTERVIEWS – WEEK BEGINNING 20TH OCTOBER

Notes about Parent Interview arrangements will go home with eldest children on Monday. Please return these to your eldest child’s class teacher by Friday 10th October, clearly marking your availability. During interview week, school will finish early each day (including Friday). Interview times will be offered between 2pm and 4.30pm from Monday to Thursday. Waiting Club will operate on Monday to Thursday at an additional cost (£2.50 per child). No booking is required- children can attend as needed.

Children will be dismissed after lunch at the following times:

Please note: there will be no Waiting Club on Friday, and the school bus will leave at the earlier time of 12.45pm each day that week.

PARENTS’ COUNCIL UPDATE

A huge thank you to our Parents’ Council for organising this year’s Halloween Costume Recycle. Please feel free to stop by at collection time this afternoon to grab a costume- we’ve a great selection available! We kindly ask for a £2 donation per costume, with all proceeds going directly to Parents’ Council fundraising.

Our Parents’ Council are currently planning a Multi-Cultural Project to celebrate the wonderful diversity within our school community. If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you! We’re looking for cultural items such as flags, traditional costumes, and food samples that represent different countries and backgrounds. If you or your family would like to share something from your culture (or if you have links with community organisations who might be able to support us) please send me an email. I’ll be happy to connect you with the Parents’ Council’s multicultural event subgroup who are coordinating the project. Thank you!

ECO-COUNCIL

Our first Eco Council meeting of the year takes place on Monday from 3-4pm in Mr Phillips’ room. Thank you to all pupils who volunteered and who were elected as their class representatives. We’re looking forward to seeing their ideas take shape.

WALK TO SCHOOL MONTH

Children will receive stamp sheets on Monday, which will be marked by their class teacher each time they make an active journey to school. If you’re driving, please consider dropping your child at the bottom of Killuney Park Road so they can walk up the footpath on the right-hand side. Every step counts!

MATHLETICS

It’s fantastic to see so many classes embracing Mathletics. Last year, we saw a clear link between regular use and strong performance in standardised maths tests.

Mr Phillips is launching a new initiative: Mathletics Class of the Month. The class with the most certificates at the end of each month will win a special prize to enjoy together.

PARENTPAY: OUTSTANDING BALANCES

Please check ParentPay and clear any outstanding balances. If you’re experiencing difficulty, don’t hesitate to reach out- we’re happy to help set up a payment plan.

REPORTING ABSENCES

All absences should be reported via the ‘Book an Absence’ link on our website on the first day of absence. This helps us keep accurate records.

SACRAMENT DATES AND CATHEDRAL VISIT

Children in P4 and P7 visited St Patrick’s Cathedral on Thursday to meet Fr James ahead of their sacraments. Thank you to Mrs Tohill and Mrs McGeown for organising this trip for the children. The children all behaved amazingly and were fantastic ambassadors for our school!

Dates for this year’s sacraments are as follows:

PARKING AND DROP-OFF ZONE

Thank you to those using the drop-off zone correctly- it helps keep traffic flowing and ensures access for the school bus.

Just a reminder:

UNIFORM LABELLING

We’ve several jumpers and cardigans in lost property. Please label all uniform items so we can return them easily.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, you’re always welcome to get in touch with me or your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo or you can catch me at the school gate. For safeguarding concerns, please contact Mrs O’Braonain directly at aobraonain211@c2kni.net.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
