THE FRIDAY NOTE (10TH OCTOBER 2025)
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope everyone has had a great week. October is flying by and we’ve lots happening in school over the coming days.
Before we dive into this week’s updates, I’d like to say a special thank you to Dylan and Katy for their fantastic work with our Gardening Club- the school grounds are looking absolutely fabulous! Thanks also to all the children who are enjoying this club each week and helping to keep our outdoor spaces blooming.
Please see below for this week’s updates and reminders.
NUMERACY WEEK
Next week is Numeracy Week at Saints and Scholars! All classes will be taking part in fun, hands-on problem-solving activities designed to bring numeracy to life. Keep an eye on our social media channels to see what each class gets up to!
On Friday 17th October, we’ll be holding a Numeracy Dress-Up Day. Children are invited to come dressed as someone who works with numbers (a teacher, doctor, builder, shopkeeper or even a mathematician!) Alternatively, they can wear an outfit that features numbers. Spot prizes will be awarded for creativity and effort. We can’t wait to see everyone’s ideas!
GEORGIAN DAY
Children in P5-P7 who are interested in participating in Georgian Day activities can collect a form from the school office. Completed forms should be returned to Grainne by Tuesday 15th October, as outlined in her Class Dojo post on 6th October.
This is a fantastic community event and we’re proud to have had many of our pupils involved over the years. We encourage interested children to take part!
PE T-SHIRTS
We’ve had a slight delay in the supply of our PE t-shirts, but they are expected to arrive on Monday next week. Thank you for your patience! If you’d like to buy new PE t-shirts, these can be purchased directly from Grainne in the office.
SCHOOL DINNERS
We kindly ask that all parents now pre-book school dinners via ParentPay. Bookings should be made by Wednesday of the previous week to help us ensure accurate daily orders.
If your child forgets their lunch or you need to make a last-minute change, just let Grainne or your child’s class teacher know. You’ll be charged in the usual way via ParentPay.
I’d also like to remind parents to clear any outstanding balances on ParentPay.
CLASS ASSEMBLY
We’re looking forward to our first class assembly of the year! Mr McCadden and Mrs Harrison’s P5/6 class will be leading our Harvest Assembly next Friday 17th October at 9.30am.
Parents of children in P5/6 are warmly invited to attend. Please be seated in the assembly hall by 9.30am.
PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Notes about Parent Interview arrangements went home earlier this week and parents have now returned these forms to school- thank you! Your child’s class teacher will be in touch next week with your appointment time. If you have more than one child in school, the eldest child’s teacher will coordinate your appointment times.
During interview week (beginning Monday 20th October), school will finish early each day. Waiting Club will operate from Monday to Thursday at an additional cost (£2.50 per child from 1pm-3pm). No booking is required- children can attend as needed.
Children will be dismissed after lunch at the following times:
- 12.45pm: School Bus departs
- 1.00pm: P6 & P7 and younger siblings
- 1.10pm: P4 & P5 and younger siblings
- 1.20pm: P2 & P3 and younger siblings
- 1.30pm: Nursery & P1 pupils
Please note- there will be no Waiting Club on Friday.
WALK TO SCHOOL MONTH
Children received stamp sheets this week to track their active journeys to school. If you’re driving, please consider dropping your child at the bottom of Killuney Park Road so they can walk up the footpath on the right-hand side. Every step counts!
REPORTING ABSENCES
All absences should be reported via the ‘Book an Absence’ link on our website on the first day of absence. This helps us keep accurate records and ensures compliance with Education Welfare guidance.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, you’re always welcome to get in touch with me or your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo or you can catch me at drop off or collection time. For safeguarding concerns, please contact Mrs O’Braonain directly at aobraonain211@c2kni.net.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
