The Friday Note (17.10.25)

THE FRIDAY NOTE (17TH OCTOBER 2025)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We’re fast approaching the half-term break and it’s been a busy week here at Saints and Scholars. This morning, our P5/6 class led a fabulous Harvest Assembly- thank you to all the parents who came along to support their children. It was a lovely way to start the day!

Please see below for this week’s updates and reminders.

PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Next week we will hold our Parent-Teacher Interviews. Everyone should now have received their appointment information. To facilitate these meetings, school will close early each day:

Waiting Club will operate Monday to Thursday from 1pm-3pm at a cost of £2.50 per child. No booking is required, but please let your child’s class teacher know in advance if you wish your child to stay. Please note there will be no Waiting Club on Friday.

ARMAGH SPEECH & DRAMA FESTIVAL

We hope to enter some pupils in the schools’ section of the Armagh Speech and Drama Festival, taking place from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th February 2026 at the Marketplace Theatre.

Children will recite a poem which I will prepare with them during school time. The entry fee is £4.50 per pupil and will be added to ParentPay once registration is complete. Parents will be responsible for bringing their child to the venue and accompanying them on the day.

If you would like your child to take part, please contact me via Class Dojo or email (ascottmulholland193@c2kni.net) by Thursday 23rd October at 12 noon.

HALLOWEEN DISCO

Our annual Halloween Disco will take place on Thursday 23rd October:

The disco will be fully supervised by staff and Parents’ Council volunteers (if you are able to volunteer for a 30 minute slot on the evening, please get in touch with your Class Rep). Entry is £5 per child and includes a goody bag and fun activities. Of course, parents are welcome to attend, but there is no requirement to stay.

WALK TO SCHOOL MONTH

We’re continuing to encourage active journeys to school this month. Every step counts- thank you for supporting this initiative!

CHRISTMAS HAMPERS

This Christmas, Vibe will be supporting over 400 families in Armagh with food hampers. We’re asking for donations of the following non-perishable items by Friday 12th December:

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

CHRISTMAS SHOEBOXES

We are once again supporting Vibe’s Shoebox Appeal for children in Latvia. Leaflets with packing suggestions will be sent home today. Please drop off completed shoeboxes by Friday 14th November. Thank you for your continued support- last year’s response was incredible!

OPEN NIGHT

If you have a child due to start Nursery or P1 in September 2026, or know someone who does, please save the date:

Tuesday 9th December, 7–8.30pm

We’d love to welcome prospective families to see what Saints and Scholars has to offer.

FLU VACCINATION FORMS

Children have received flu vaccination forms this week. If you haven’t already returned yours, please send it in on Monday morning so we can forward them to the School Nursing Team.

ALLERGY REMINDER

Please avoid sending eggs, nuts, and kiwi in packed lunches. We have pupils with severe allergies and your cooperation helps us maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all.

POPPY APPEAL

Poppies and merchandise will be available from Monday 20th October. Two P7 pupils will visit classes daily for anyone wishing to make a donation.

UPCOMING CLASS ASSEMBLIES

Please take note of the following upcoming assemblies. Parents are welcome to attend our class assemblies. Assembly begins at 9.30am each week.

SCHOOL DINNERS

We kindly ask that all parents now pre-book school dinners via ParentPay. Bookings should be made by Wednesday of the previous week to help us ensure accurate daily orders. Please book school dinners for week beginning 3rd November by 3pm on Wednesday 22nd October. Thank you!

REPORTING ABSENCES

All absences should be reported via the ‘Book an Absence’ link on our website on the first day of absence. This helps us keep accurate records and ensures compliance with Education Welfare guidance.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, you’re always welcome to get in touch with me or your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo or you can catch me at drop off or collection time. For safeguarding concerns, please contact Mrs O’Braonain directly at aobraonain211@c2kni.net.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
