THE FRIDAY NOTE (21ST NOVEMBER 2025)
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This morning, Mr Phillips’ class led our assembly to mark Anti-Bullying Week. The children shared the important message of kindness, and it was lovely to see so many of our P5 parents there to support them. Thank you, as always, to our wonderful Parents’ Council for organising tea and coffee for our visitors.
I hope you find the following information useful!
SEAG ASSESSMENTS
A huge well done to our P7 pupils who will complete their second and final SEAG assessment paper tomorrow morning, having already completed the first paper last Saturday. We are so proud of all the hard work they’ve put in over the past few months. Thank you to Mr Bourne for his excellent preparation and support.
PARENTS’ COUNCIL UPDATE: MULTICULTURAL FORTNIGHT
Our Parents’ Council has planned a fantastic fortnight of multicultural events for our pupils. Last Friday, children enjoyed Latvian and Bulgarian craft sessions, and on Wednesday, P3-P7 took part in Ulster Scots dancing workshops. The children thoroughly enjoyed these experiences-thank you to the Parents’ Council for organising such enriching opportunities.
The fun continues next week!
The fortnight will conclude with a Multicultural Celebration on Friday 28th November, from 1.30–3.30pm in the assembly hall. There will be stalls featuring delicious food from cultures represented in our school community- from the USA to Pakistan, Sri Lanka to Zimbabwe, and everywhere in between! Please join us in the assembly hall with your children after pick-up to celebrate the rich diversity of Saints and Scholars.
ICY CONDITIONS: KILLUNEY PARK ROAD
Thank you to everyone who contacted their councillors regarding the condition of Killuney Park Road. The road was incredibly icy yesterday morning, and I appreciate everyone’s patience and care in getting to school safely. I’m pleased to share that Killuney Park Road has now been added to the gritting schedule! Special thanks to Cllr Sarah Duffy, Cllr John Óg O’Kane, and Cllr Thomas O’Hanlon for their swift action and support.
FLU VACCINATIONS
The school nursing team will be in school on Thursday 27th November to administer flu vaccinations. If your child is absent on the day and you would still like them to receive the vaccine, please contact your GP to arrange it.
SUPPORT HAMISH - CPS COVER STAR COMPETITION
Hamish has entered Heat 2 of the CPS Cover Star Competition, and he needs your vote to become the cutest dog in Armagh! If you're on Instagram, head over to @cpsproperty and cast your vote for Hamish. The winner of each heat will go forward to the final round- let’s help Hamish get there! Let’s make Hamish a star!
CAR PARK UPDATE: LINE MARKINGS
You may have noticed that the new tarmac in the school car park has not yet been painted with parking space lines. The contractors had planned to complete this last week, but unfortunately the rain prevented them from doing so. We are awaiting confirmation of a new date for this work.
In the meantime, please do not park in the area where the disabled parking spaces were previously marked. It is essential that families with blue badges can access these spaces. Only parents with a blue badge should use this part of the car park.
If you would like to park and walk your child into school, please use the left-hand side of Killuney Park Road as you drive towards the school, and walk your child in from there.
NURSERY & P1 NATIVITY
We’re excited to announce that our Nursery and P1 children will be staging their Nativity performance on Wednesday 17th December at 10am. Families are warmly invited to join us for this very special event. Doors will open at 9.15am, with tea and coffee served by our wonderful Parents’ Council.
We can’t wait to see our youngest stars shine on stage!
GATE LOCKS AND ACCESS TIMES
Our gates have now been fitted with keypad locks and will be closed from 9.15am each morning. If your child arrives after this time, they should go to the school office to be signed in and will then be supervised to their classroom.
Just a reminder that, due to safeguarding procedures, parents are not permitted to walk down the corridors. If you need to collect your child early, please report to Gráinne at reception and wait in the reception area while your child is collected from their classroom.
OPEN NIGHT
If you have a child due to start Nursery or P1 in September 2026, or know someone who does, please save the date:
Tuesday 9th December, 6.00-7.30pm with the Principal’s Address at 7pm in the assembly hall.
We will also be hosting a Stay & Play session for prospective Nursery and P1 pupils on Tuesday 6th January from 10.30am-12noon in Leafy Hollow. This will be a wonderful opportunity for children to join their parents for some outdoor learning fun.
Please note:
We look forward to welcoming new families and sharing what makes Saints and Scholars so special.
REPORTING ABSENCES
All absences should be reported via the ‘Book an Absence’ link on our website on the first day of absence. This helps us keep accurate records and ensures compliance with Education Welfare guidance.
SAVE THE DATE
Our Parents’ Council are holding our Christmas Fayre on Thursday 11th December. Keep the date free and join the school community in some festive fun! Watch this space for details!
DECK THE PAWS!
The Nit & Natter Community invites you and your furry friends to a festive Christmas celebration at Armagh Cricket Club on Saturday 13th December (12–5pm).
For just £15 per dog, your pooch will enjoy a “pawtrait” with Santa Paws, a puppuccino, a personalised gift, and a festive goodie bag.
Dogs and humans alike are encouraged to dress to impress- think jumpers, tinsel, hats, or festive collars! All proceeds support Pretty ‘n’ Pink. Hamish, of course, will be there with bells on! We hope to see lots of you there too!
If you ever have any questions or concerns, you’re always welcome to get in touch with me or your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo or you can catch me at drop off or collection time. For safeguarding concerns, please contact Mrs O’Braonain directly at aobraonain211@c2kni.net.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
