The Friday Note (23.01.26)

THE FRIDAY NOTE (23RD JANAURY 2026)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It’s been another busy week at Saints and Scholars! Beauty and the Beast rehearsals are now in full swing and we’re very much looking forward to bringing the show to the Marketplace Theatre on the 20th May 2026. Some of our pupils have also been busy preparing for the Armagh Speech and Drama Festival which is taking place at the beginning of February- this is another amazing opportunity to represent and showcase the talent that exists in our school!

I hope you find the following information useful!

SEAG RESULTS

SEAG results for pupils who sat the assessments in November 2025 will be available from 8am tomorrow morning. Results can be accessed through the SEAG dashboard. If any parents would like to discuss their child’s result, I will be available all day on Monday for meetings. Please get in touch via Dojo or email and I will make myself available.

POST-PRIMARY ADMISSIONS

EA Connect closed on Wednesday for applications for Nursery and P1 children starting in September 2026. It will reopen, for post-primary admissions, at 12 noon on Tuesday 27th January and will remain open until 12 noon on Thursday 19th February.

If your child is currently in P7 and due to begin post-primary school in September 2026, you will need to apply via EA Connect. If you would like to arrange a meeting with me for support with the process, please get in touch.

If your child a statement of Special Educational Needs you do not need to apply via the EA Connect portal. Your application has already been completed.

AFTER-SCHOOL CLUBS AND HOMEWORK CLUBS

Thank you to everyone who supports our school by attending Breakfast Club, our afternoon clubs, Homework Club and our teacher?led clubs. The money raised goes directly into school funds and helps us continue to invest in our pupils and provide the highest possible standard of education.

ARMAGH INTERNATIONAL ROAD RACE

The Armagh International Road Race will take place at The Mall, Armagh, on the evening of Thursday 12th February, which falls during our half?term break. Races are split by age and by gender. The youngest race, for children born in 2019, is 400 metres. All races for children born during or after 2016–17 are 1400 metres (1.5 laps).

The entry fee is £5 per child, and all entrants will receive a race number which must be worn on the night. If your child would like to take part, please send £5 in an envelope to Mr Bourne, clearly labelled with your child’s full name and date of birth, by Tuesday 27th January.

Parents are responsible for supervising their child, including drop?off at the start line and collection at the finish area. This is always a fantastic event and we hope to see lots of Saints and Scholars pupils taking part.

CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL INDOOR BLITZ

Well done to the P6 and P7 pupils who represented our school at the indoor football tournament yesterday. Both the boys’ team and the girls’ team played brilliantly and were fantastic ambassadors for Saints and Scholars. The girls’ team won all of their other matches and only narrowly missed out on qualifying for the next round after conceding a last?minute goal to St Joseph’s, Madden. Irrespective of the outcome, we are so proud of you all!

QUIZ SEASON

This is a very busy and exciting time of year for quizzes. This week, four P7 pupils represented our school at the NI Road Safety Quiz and were fantastic ambassadors for Saints and Scholars. Next Thursday, another group of P7 pupils will represent the school at the Cumann na mBunscol Quiz in Keady. Good luck!

On Sunday 8th February at 5.30pm in the Armagh Harps Club, the Armagh heat of the Credit Union Quiz will take place. We can enter two P6 teams and two P7 teams. If your child would like to take part, please message me on Dojo or email and I will forward the permission slips. This is a brilliant event each year and a great opportunity for any keen quizzers to represent our school.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS FOR 2026–2027

The Department has not yet released the holiday dates for next year. However, we know many families are hoping to book summer holidays, so we want to share our provisional start dates.

Nursery and P1 children will have their own induction arrangements, and we will notify those parents in due course.

REPORTING AN ABSENCE

Please continue to report all pupil absences using the link on our school website. This is essential to ensure we maintain accurate and up?to?date attendance records. Thank you for your continued support.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, you’re always welcome to get in touch with me or your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo or you can catch me at drop off or collection time. For safeguarding concerns, please contact Mrs O’Braonain directly at aobraonain211@c2kni.net.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
