THE FRIDAY NOTE (30TH JANUARY 2026)
Dear Parents/Guardians,
January has been an incredibly busy month in school and it’s great that everyone has made such a great start to 2026. The latest Parents’ Council newsletter was shared with everyone yesterday afternoon- if you haven’t already done so, please check it out!
I hope you all find the following information useful.
LEAVERS’ HOODIES
We are now taking orders for our P7 Leavers’ Hoodies. If you are a P7 parent, please complete the Google Form: https://forms.gle/nTksoCczBhumrXPN7 by Friday 6th February.
MR PHILLIPS’ FUNDRAISER
Mr Phillips is fundraising for Autism NI and will be completing a 5k every day throughout the month of February. If you would like to support him, donations can be made via his JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/davephillips-5k-a-day
SCOIL SPREAGTHA
We are delighted to announce that we are taking part in the Scoil Spreagtha scheme for 2026. Scoil Spreagtha is a celebratory, accredited programme that recognises and encourages the efforts of English?medium schools to promote and increase the use of Irish throughout the school environment.
CEREMONY OF LIGHT
The Ceremony of Light, for P7 children who will be making their Confirmation in May, will take place in St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Thursday 26th February at 7pm.
ARMAGH SPEECH AND DRAMA FESTIVAL
Next week, the Armagh Speech and Drama Festival takes place in the Marketplace Theatre. We would like to wish all of the children taking part in the school classes and those participating through their own private drama groups, the very best of luck in their respective classes.
If your child has entered one of the school classes, please remember to collect them from school and ensure they arrive at the Marketplace Theatre in good time for the start of their class. Children taking part in the school classes should wear full school uniform. Parents will need to remain with their children during the classes. Good luck everyone!
HALF?TERM REMINDER
A reminder that school will be closed for the half?term break from Monday 9th February to Friday 13th February inclusive.
SEAG INFORMATION SESSION
There will be an information session for P6 parents on the SEAG assessments on Tuesday 17th February at 7.15pm in school. If your child is currently in P6 and is planning to complete the SEAG assessments in November 2026, this will be an important session to find out more about the preparation work we will be doing in school. If you are unable to attend, please let me know and I will ensure the information is shared with you.
POST-PRIMARY ADMISSIONS
EA Connect is now open for online post-primary applications and will remain open until 12 noon on Thursday 19th February. If your child is currently in P7 and due to begin post-primary school in September 2026, you will need to apply via EA Connect. If you would like to arrange a meeting with me for support with the process, please get in touch.
If your child has a statement of Special Educational Needs you do not need to apply via the EA Connect portal. Your application has already been completed.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, you’re always welcome to get in touch with me or your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo or you can catch me at drop off or collection time. For safeguarding concerns, please contact Mrs O’Braonain directly at aobraonain211@c2kni.net.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
