The Friday Note (24.04.26)

THE FRIDAY NOTE (24TH APRIL 2026)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to Term 3 everyone! I hope you all had a lovely Easter break. We are off to a busy start, as always, with lots going on across the school. Don’t forget to check out our social media platforms to keep up to date with all the fun and learning happening each day.

I hope you find the information below helpful as we move through the coming weeks.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

As you know, our P4-P7 children are busy preparing for our production of Beauty and the Beast. This is shaping up to be a spectacular show and I would encourage everyone to come along and support the children, who have already put so much hard work into rehearsals- you will not be disappointed!

The show will take place on Wednesday 20th May, with two performances (a matinee at 11am and an evening performance at 7pm). Tickets are available at the link below:

Tickets are already selling incredibly well, but the cast deserve two packed houses- so please do come along and support.

CREDIT UNION QUIZ

A huge well done to Kotryna, Annie, Theodore and Harry, who represented our school at the Credit Union National Finals in Dublin last Sunday at the RDS. This was a fantastic achievement, and the first time Saints and Scholars has reached the finals—we are incredibly proud of them all. The questions were extremely challenging, and while we didn’t win this time, it was a brilliant experience for the children.

Thank you also to their parents for supporting and transporting them on the day. Well done everyone!

PARENTS’ COUNCIL

Our Parents’ Council continues to work incredibly hard to support and enhance our school community, and we are very grateful for their ongoing commitment- thank you!

We are delighted to share that the Parents’ Council has reached their target for the development of our library space. We look forward to transforming this into a multifunctional area where children can enjoy reading and access computers for learning.

Thank you to all parents who have supported events so far-it is very much appreciated. Watch this space!

Please also take time to read the Parents’ Council newsletter, which is uploaded monthly to the school website, to keep up to date and find out how you can get involved.

Upcoming Event:

The Parents’ Council are also appealing for raffle prizes. If you are able to donate a voucher or gift from a local business, please drop it into the school office.

APPLE BLOSSOM SWIMMING GALA

The Apple Blossom Swimming Gala will take place on Wednesday 3rd June 2026 at the Orchard Leisure Centre, Armagh. This event is open to P6 and P7 pupils (with P5 pupils eligible to swim in P6 races if required). Pupils may enter one individual race, and there will also be two relay events.

The gala begins at 9:45am and typically finishes between 2:30pm and 3:00pm. While the event is competitive, it is always a fun and rewarding experience.

If your child is a confident swimmer and would enjoy taking part, please email Mr Bourne at rbourne868@c2kni.net. In your email please indicate, in order of preference, your child’s best strokes and whether or not they are part of a swimming club.

Deadline for entries: Friday 1st May

Please note that not all applicants may be selected. Priority will be given to pupils who are members of a swimming club.

KEY DATES

PUPIL VOICE

This week, our School Council delivered a Worry Box and a Bright Ideas Box to every classroom.

The Bright Ideas Box allows children to share suggestions on how to make our school even better, while the Worry Box provides a safe and private way for pupils to share concerns with their teacher.

Each box will be checked daily so that children feel listened to, supported and valued.

A big thank you to one of our parents, Michelle, for creating these using her 3D printer—we really appreciate your support!

AFTERSCHOOL CLUBS

Our afterschool clubs have now restarted. Some of our clubs still have spaces and if you’d like to register your child, please see the ‘Afterschool Activities’ note on the school website for information on how to register your child.

There are some spaces available for both the Highland Dancing and Tin Whistle clubs. Please let Grainne or I know if you’d like your child to attend these clubs from next week.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, you’re always welcome to get in touch with me or your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo or you can catch me at drop off or collection time. For safeguarding concerns, please contact Mrs O’Braonain directly at aobraonain211@c2kni.net.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
