The Friday Note (08.05.26)

THE FRIDAY NOTE (8TH MAY 2026)

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

I hope that you all had a good week. It has certainly been another very busy week in Saints and Scholars. Rehearsals and final touches for Beauty and the Beast are in full swing! Our pupils and staff have been working incredibly hard and excitement is definitely building ahead of the performances!

This weekend, some of our P4 children will celebrate their First Holy Communion and we would like to wish them all the very best for their special day. Thank you as well to the members of our school choir who will be supporting the P4 children by singing at the Mass tomorrow morning. The Mass will take place in St Malachy’s Church at 11am.

I hope that you find the following information useful.

PARENT GOVERNOR

Just before the Easter break, I shared with everyone that we had a vacancy on the Board of Governors for a parent representative. At the closing date for nominations, I had received one nomination form and so there was no need for an election on this occasion.

Darren Cunningham joins our Board of Governors and we would like to warmly welcome him into this role. Darren’s child is currently in Nursery.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR CHILD’S TEETH FOR PARENTS AND CARERS

The Community Dental Service are providing a FREE oral health information session for parents and carers on Tuesday 12th May from 10-11am via Microsoft Teams. This session will provide toothbrushing tips and healthy eating advice.

Please click on here to register.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Our tickets for Beauty and the Beast are selling amazingly well. Thank you to everyone who has already purchased tickets to support our fantastic pupils, who have been working so hard! It’s going to be a show to remember.

If you still haven’t got your tickets, please make sure you grab yours on the Marketplace website. There are limited tickets remaining for the 7pm evening show, with more availability for the 11am matinee. Please get yours before they’re gone!

ATTENDANCE

Please ensure that children’s absences are reported via the link on the school website on each day of your child’s absence. It is crucial that we are aware of the reason for your child’s absence and that this is communicated to school as early as possible each day.

GENERAL CLASSROOM ASSISTANT VACANCY

We are currently advertising for a permanent Classroom Assistant position at our school. The successful candidate will be supporting in P1 from September 2026 and will also assist with lunchtime and club supervision. The hours are 9am-3pm, Monday to Friday.

Please feel free to share this with anyone who you feel may be interested or suitable for the role. The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Thursday 21st May 2026.

BOOK FAIR

The Book Fair will be visiting school from Friday 15th May until Thursday 22nd May. The Book Fair will be open next Friday to allow the children an opportunity to browse the books and purchase books or stationery (if families are unable to attend one of the after-school slots).

The Book Fair will then be open for families to purchase books from Monday 18th to Wednesday 20th May. It will be open from 2-2.20pm and again from 3-3.20pm each day.

This is always very well supported by our families and, depending on the amount raised through book sales, school is able to purchase additional books and resources for our pupils.
