THE FRIDAY NOTE (29TH MAY 2026)
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope everyone had a lovely extended Bank Holiday weekend and enjoyed the sunshine! It has been great to see so many classes taking their learning outdoors this week. Thank you for sending children to school with suncream and sun hats to help keep them safe in the heat.
It is hard to believe we are now approaching the final month of the academic year! June is always a very busy month in school, so I hope you find the following information useful.
SPORTS DAY
Our Sports Day will take place (weather dependent) on Monday 8th June. On this day, pupils can come to school in their active wear/PE uniforms. We also love when parents come along to support the children in their races, so the following details will allow you to make arrangements if you would like to attend.
From 9.15am-10.15am, children from P1-P4 will complete their races on the playground. The P1-P3 classes will have all of their races on the playground and the P4 children will also complete their wheelchair races during this time.
At 10.15am, the races on the grass pitch will begin for children from P4-P7, with each class completing a running race, an egg and spoon race and a sack race. The races on the grass pitch will take place from 10.15am and should finish by 12 noon, ending with the parents’ races! (Take part at your own risk – of course there is absolutely no obligation for anyone to race if they don’t want to. It’s all a bit of fun for the children!)
Mark from Healthy Kidz will also be in school on Monday and will be running circuit activities for the children during the school day. Nursery children will have their races on the playground with Mark at 10.15am.
Our Parents’ Council will be serving tea, coffee and refreshments throughout the day. We would really appreciate any donations of traybakes from parents to help keep our spectators refreshed. Thank you for your support!
SWIMMING GALA
The Apple Blossom Swimming Gala will take place on Wednesday 3rd June at the Orchard Leisure Centre. The event will begin at 9.45am (parents should drop their children off) and will finish at approximately 2.30pm, when children should be collected by parents. Children should be poolside and in their swimming gear by 9.35am.
Mr Bourne has sent out notes detailing all of the logistics for the day. If you have any questions about the event, please email him at rbourne868@c2kni.net.
BOOK FAIR
Thank you to everyone for supporting our Book Fair. Thanks to your support, the school has been given £570 to spend on new reading material for our pupils. We very much appreciate your support!
SERVICE FOR ROBERTA
On Thursday 11th June, we will be holding a special Service of Remembrance for Roberta. The service will be held in the assembly hall and will begin at 11am. Parents are welcome to attend.
As our pupils will also be in attendance, there will be limited seating available. Doors will open at 10.45am and seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. A small number of seats will be reserved for invited guests. Thank you for your understanding.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Our production of Beauty and the Beast was a tremendous success and we would like to thank everyone again who came along to support our amazingly talented pupils. It truly showcased the talent within our school and I was abundantly proud of each and every child who took part.
A recording of the show is available to purchase. An item has been added to ParentPay and orders will close at 3pm on Friday 5th June. Those who have paid £10 by this time will then be sent a secure link to watch the show. Anyone in the school community is welcome to order a recording of our spectacular production.
PARENTS’ COUNCIL QUIZ
Our Parents’ Council Quiz, which was due to take place on Saturday evening, has been postponed. The quiz will now take place during the Autumn Term and we will keep everyone updated with arrangements closer to the time.
ATTENDANCE
Please ensure that children’s absences are reported via the link on the school website on each day of your child’s absence. It is crucial that we are aware of the reason for your child’s absence and that this is communicated to school as early as possible each day.
SCHOOL UNIFORM RECYCLE INITIATIVE
It’s that time of the year again when our Parents’ Council organise our School Uniform Recycle! This year, we would really appreciate if all uniform items could be left on hangers and placed on the rails at the front of the school. This will save our Parents’ Council a lot of time sorting and organising everything. Wellington boots and all items of uniform are encouraged ?
Once all donations are collected and organised, we’ll keep everyone posted about when the Uniform Recycle will officially open. Thank you!
FAMILY FUN NIGHT
Our Parents’ Council are holding another fantastic Family Fun Night on Friday 19th June from 6-8pm. There will be something for everyone including bouncy castles, football fun, crafts, tattoos, live music, Reptile Rascals, an ice cream van, chippy van and ‘On The Hoof’ will be there too!
Entry is £5 per child and adults go free. All activities are included in the price, excluding food vans.
A raffle will also take place on the night and we would greatly appreciate any donations of raffle prizes. If you would like to donate, please leave items into the school office by Wednesday 17th June at the latest. Thank you for your continued support - we can’t wait for another brilliant evening together!
