Welcome to the P6 page for the academic year 2019-20

It is with a sad heart that I write this message, as we find ourselves unable to come together as a class. I will greatly miss the smiling faces of each one of my students and am saddened that their school year has been cut short. Throughout this, however long it may be, I will endeavour to provide the best educational opportunities I can. I request the understanding and support of parents during the current circumstances. 

My aim is to ensure the curriculum content that was due to be taught will be accessible to students through online tutorials, tasks, games and worksheets.

Each week I will upload the curriculum content that should be covered by your son/daughter that week and any relevant guidelines, links or worksheets. It is your parental choice whether you use these activities or not. 


READING: Read for pleasure daily from their own personal library. Note down any new language and use a dictionary to develop an understanding of meaning. 


SPELLING: I will upload spellings to the weekly folders. Students know their spelling group and should work on them throughout the week - find dictionary definitions, write sentences using them and learn to confidently spell them. Parents should test their child's spellings each week. 


WRITING: A writing task will be set every 2 weeks. Parents may, if they wish, email this to me and I will send back comments for their child. 

I may send home links for additional writing competitions/tasks. It will be the parents responsibility to submit these. 


STUDYLADDER: A lot of the work will be covered through Studyladder, which every child has a login for. Upon login, parents may be requested to make a parental account but only need to use the free section, the premium account is not necessary. 

I have created pods for each area of learning, for example 'decimals' and assigned work to students according to their level. Some subject areas have a lot of exercises, so do not worry if your child does not complete them all, but it's better to have too much than too little. I have also added optional extension pods to some topic areas to provide additional challenges (beyond the expected P6 curriculum).

Relevant tutorials and exercises will be released on a week to week basis. 

Through Studyladder I can monitor the completed activities and assessment scores of each individual child. Children can gain points and earn certificates by successfully completing tasks, which will hopefully keep them motivated. 


SUMDOG: Students also have logins for this website and can use it as they wish to further hone their mathematical skills.
