Exploring Length in Leafy Hollow

12th Oct 2025

P1/2 took full advantage of our fantastic outdoor space, Leafy Hollow, to explore and reinforce the language of length. Surrounded by nature, the children engaged in hands-on learning by identifying and comparing natural objects such as tree trunks, branches, and leaves. They had great fun using vocabulary like tall and small, long and short, thick and thin as they explored the environment. A friendly competition added extra excitement as they searched for the tallest tree, the thickest trunk, the thinnest leaf, and the longest and shortest branches. It was a brilliant way to bring maths to life, combining active outdoor learning with teamwork, observation skills, and lots of enthusiasm!
